According to Assistant Principal Joseph Schaller, the current turf on the football and soccer fields will be replaced by new turf starting this spring. This project, despite its size, will be finished just in time for the next school year.
According to Schaller, the new turf replaces the current turf which has a ten year due date. While there is expected to be ongoing construction during the school year, practices that utilize the outdoor fields being replaced will still go on due to the fact that installation of the new turf will take place one field at a time. “By constructing one field at a time, practices will be able to continue on the other fields not under construction,” Schaller said.
According to David Botros, football player and senior, the new turf will allow for more opportunities to get better. “I think it’s a great addition, it’ll provide us with even more tools to succeed,” he said. “I think that the new turf, along with the weight room, can really shape the future of sports like football.”
