According to maintenance foreman Mike Wyatt, the department will prepare for the spring season, which includes sports like track and field, baseball and softball. Wyatt said the department is responsible for preparing the scoreboards, PA system and concession stand at the stadium.
Air conditioning is another part of the maintenance department’s upcoming work, according to Wyatt. “We’re doing routine maintenance with the air conditioning units to make sure they’re ready to go when we need cooling,” he said.
Alexandra Schultz, women’s track and field member and junior, said the department’s preparations were important for her season.
“It’s great that they’re working on the scoreboards and concessions,” she said. “If things like that weren’t working, then our fans—our friends and family members and everyone—might not want to come and support us.”
