As the second semester sets in, Sophomore Class officers find themselves approaching a busy spring schedule, which includes the planning of prom breakfast.
Sophomore Class sponsor Shannon Woodson said, “(The Sophomore Class officers and sponsors) work to make prom breakfast a fun experience for all. The officers will do most of the work deciding the menu and how to decorate the room for the event.”
Class officers coordinate with the school and work within a budget to plan prom breakfast. They will begin planning for the breakfast in the next few weeks.
“The class officers and I are all excited for what we’ve planned for this spring, but since we just got back to school, we haven’t been contacted for an officer meeting discussing these events yet,” Sophomore Class treasurer Jeff Hou said.
Although officers have yet to plan any class-wide activities this spring, both Woodson and Hou said they encourage sophomores to focus on school-wide activities, like Dance Marathon on Feb. 20.
“(Dance Marathon) is open to all and offers a tremendous opportunity to give to a special organization. Students usually enjoy the night of the event and find the experience a rewarding one,” Woodson said.
Hou said he agrees with Woodson.
“I really like Dance Marathon because students can raise money and awareness while having fun,” Hou said. “Plus, it’s nice that the entire school, not just one grade or club, can come together to support one cause.” By Melinda Song <[email protected]>
