Blake Surfleet, TEDx Club president and senior said, “The conference is actually going to be on March 29 at the library from 2-4 p.m.”
They will hold student interviews the next two Mondays they have school. Which would be Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 after their normal meeting time.
TEDx Club sponsor Grant Benefiel said, “(TEDx members) give student interviewees ideas and tips on how to present and they will also look over their speech. They will give any advice and making sure they stay on topic on the theme they created.”
Surfleet said they have students who will work with the interviewees to make sure they stay on track, have good slideshows, and make sure their slideshows are finished.
Surfleet said, “It is set that talks don’t go too long and if you think of a normal TED talk they aren’t too long but they’re long enough that they get enough detail in and it applies to TEDx as well.”
The next meeting will be held on Jan. 26 and they are going to discuss working with other clubs to provide food or other things.
Benefiel said, “They are going to talk a lot about decorations on how they are going to decorate the conference and what they need to bring.”
Surfleet said also they are really into the design process for their event and are advertising and planning for decorations.
Surfleet said, “They are currently deciding their club t-shirt set at the event and they have a Remind and Instagram page.”
Benefiel said if there are any students interested in interviewing for a speech for the conference, then the club will reach out to them with more information and there is a form on the TEDx CHS Instagram page that the student can fill out. By Parker Kelso
