Club sponsor Peter Beck is also a teacher for multiple Calculus classes. Before Math Club meetings, he grades tests and writes test problems. “It’s a lot easier to do this during the buffer time before meetings, and it also saves me time,” Beck said. “The members can also inspire questions at times by asking questions.”
Math Club last met on April 22 in Room A314 and participated in the Purple Comet competition in groups of six. Sophomore Amy Cui said that she has been settling great into her incoming position as club president.
“Everyone’s been the same, really,” Cui said. “It’s just a little more work to tell them to organize into different groups and such, but right now since competition season is slowing down, it’s a lot easier to manage.”
Allison Shen, club president and senior, and club sponsor Peter Beck said that both co-presidents have been adjusting well into the positions.
“Obviously, it’s easier right now because we just have the Purple Comet competition,” Beck said. “But Allison and I both think that they will do great in the next school year.” By Ella Guo
