WITH THE AWARD: Senior Danielle Havel accepts the ISHAA Mental Attitude award for Class 4A with her parents Melissa and John Havel. Havel is the first women’s basketball player from Carmel to receive the award. According to Havel, Annie Rubendust, who was unable to play due to an ankle injury, actually realized she had won the award before the end of the game. “Annie and the team saw my parents being taken out of the stands by Mr. Inskeep with about three minutes left in the game. They were then led to our tunnel to wait for the award.” Havel said.
