A Create for Kids member decorates a handmade card during the club’s first meeting, preparing messages of encouragement for children in hospitals.

At their first official meeting, the Create for Kids club began planning for the upcoming homecoming festivities. The group is looking forward to sharing their mission with more students and raising support for their cause.

Co-president and senior Rachel Lehner explained that one of their main goals for Homecoming is to “get more funding, specifically for the kids so we can get bigger and better supplies.”

To work toward this, the club is preparing a booth that will sell hair tinsels and any food or drink, with all proceeds going directly to their efforts.

Co-president and senior Alex Widjaja added that she thinks the club is a great opportunity for “getting to make cards for kids in hospitals, and ultimately our goal is to make their days, to make them smile.”

Club sponsor Jessica Oliver also reflected on the organization’s origins, noting the excitement she felt when the idea was first introduced last year.

Oliver said, “I thought that just sounded like a really awesome club, a sweet way for people to spend their time and it’s been really cool to see how many people come together for this cause.” By Amy Xu
