For years, CHS Senate has organized the “Brain Games”, a SRT trivia competition. Advik Chaudhary, Brain Games co-chair and junior, said the event is aimed at bolstering student engagement. 

“Brain Games is a fun, annual event run by Senate,” Chaudhary said. “Our goal each year is to garner as much student participation within the SRTs.”

Michelle Foutz, Senate sponsor, said the contest has become beloved by many.

“There are a lot of people in this school who are really invested in Brain Games,” Foutz said. “In fact, some SRTs have tryouts for Brain Games. I’ve also been told that there’s some coordination of placements in SRTs based on Brain Games skills.”

With anticipation for the event’s kickoff on Feb. 18, Chaudhary said Senate has much to do. 

“Senators are working on creating questions, fact-checking them, making the brackets, and organizing the SRTs by providing instructions to the teachers,” Chaudhary said. “We format the questions in an intentional way. It’s usually a three to four sentence format, where it begins with an extremely specific statement and gradually gets easier. “

Foutz said Brain Games has multiple rounds, which contributes to Senate’s work, but also the excitement.

“During the championship in March, two teams will face off in the WHJE studio for a televised event with buzzers,” Foutz said. “The winning SRT generally is awarded with a pizza party.” By Aidah Brown
