Cutline: TEDx Club sponsor Grant Benefiel, is printing papers that are going to be used by TEDx for promoting their conference in the English department workroom on Feb 6. Benefiel said, “One thing is to promote the TEDx club and also the event and it is another great opportunity to show our community.”

According to Blake Surfleet, TEDx Club president and senior, said, “They have two meetings back to back and so last Tuesday (Feb. 3) they had another one for the people who were scheduled to be interviewed on the snow day (Jan. 26).”

TEDx Club sponsor Grant Benefiel said, “our next meeting will be 3 weeks from this past Monday and so their is a possibility (members will) meet next Monday but if not because of Presidents Day which is on Feb. 16.”

Benefiel said, “(Club members) will push it back Feb 23. and (members will) try to inform the speakers to not go over the time limit.”

Surfleet said they are hoping for around five to eight speakers both a mixed of students and adults and they ask for 15 minutes, but maximum 18 minutes and a minimum of 12 minutes.

Surfleet said they (the student interviews) already happened and if there are students still interested he encourages them to reach out to their club’s instagram or email.

Surfleet said, “All of (the information) is available on the club’s website.”

Benefiel said, “One thing is to promote the TEDx club and also the event and it is another great opportunity to show our community.”

Benefiel said when (members will) go to an event the audience members will also generally attend.  If anyone has any questions they can ask members who will be wearing a shirt at the conference. By Parker Kelso
