Foreign exchange students adjusting to new school

As the end of the first quarter nears, the foreign exchange students can now manage their way around school better and are getting to how the school runs. The students still continue to meet during SRT to discuss their experiences and any difficulties they come across.

“We talk about what they miss back at home, and they usually say friends and public transportation such as buses. But, Andreas will be one of the first foreign exchange students that will be getting his license,” David Mikesell, sponsor of the foreign exchange program, said.

Andreas Estmark, a foreign exchange student from Stockholm, Sweden, said he misses being able to catch a bus any day to go some where. In America, the students have to rely on their host family for transportation.

“School is a lot different, also. I went from having 17 subjects to fewer subjects here, and the people are different here, but I’ve loved my experience so far,” Estmark said.

According to Mikesell, “From what the students all tell me, they love it here and I think they will continue to.”
