Carmel defeated Ben Davis in the Regional game 11-9. Carmel will play home against Center Grove on November 18. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and tickets will be $7 according to Jim Inskeep.

Both defenses played strong games, with 2:30 left in the first half the score was only 3-3. Carmel gained the edge when Ben Davis’ center snapped the ball over its punter’s head into the end zone, giving Carmel a safety and the lead 5-3.  Junior Jack Thompson scored the first touchdown, running the ball in from the 10 yard line. Billy Stumbo’s PAT was blocked putting the score at 11-3.  With 6.7 seconds remaining Ben Davis scores a touchdown but misses the two point conversion, ending the game with a score of 11-9.

Head Coach Kevin Wright said that he was excited to advance into Semi-State, and play Center Grove. Wright said that although they are closer now than ever to the State championship, they must focus on one game at a time.
