On Oct. 14, the CHS Art Club plans to hold a student art silent auction. According to Art Department Chair Jennifer Bubp, the auction will be held at the top of the ramp in the Freshman Center. Bidding is open to anyone in the building, and the art gallery will be left open all day. The bidding is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and to end at 4:15 p.m.

Those interested can expect to bid on various types of artwork, all created by CHS students. Drawings, paintings, collages, jewelry and ceramics will be displayed.

Bubp said that the proceeds from this silent auction are going back to the CHS Art Club.

“Sometimes we benefit charity, like last year we did one for Riley with student government and we also did one for breast cancer awareness. So this one is kind of unique in that the money is coming back to us this time,” Bubp said.

For example, Bubp said the proceeds from the silent auction will help send art students to various locations to receive awards.

“We do a competition called Scholastics,” Bubp said. “When your work is selected to go to nationals, which is awesome, you want to go to New York City to see your work. Well, our school doesn’t have the money to pay for that. So we need a fund so that when students win art awards we can send them.”
