Key Club is celebrating teachers with Teacher Appreciation. Every month, Key Club will honor a different department of CHS. Members can earn up to two hours total by bringing in 2-liter soda bottles, cookies and other snacks to give thanks to their teachers. Each food donation counts for a half-hour. Members can also write letters and cards for a teacher in the honored department. Cards count for 15 minutes each, and students can earn a maximum of 30 total minutes from making them.

“I think Teacher Appreciation is necessary, because it lets teachers know how well they’re doing,” Nathan Fei, Key Club member and sophomore, said.

Club members can volunteer for the Go Santa Go Run on Dec. 6. The race will raise funds to help support the Autism Society of Indiana, respectively. Volunteers will help direct runners, distribute water, and run registration. Club members who are interested can sign up at meetings. Key Club is looking for around 20 volunteers for the event.

Key Club also plans to go bell ringing on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. Volunteers will ring bells at large retail stores to raise money for the Salvation Army. According to sponsor Katie Kelly, students’ cheerfulness inspires shoppers to donate.

“With our Salvation Army bell ringing, we are the number one high school in terms of donations. We’re really hoping to continue that this year,” she said.

The next Key Club meeting will be on Dec. 4.
