As the club’s initial meeting has passed, interviews for the five captain positions on the Academic Super Bowl team will be held this week.
Those interested in these positions were required to submit an application by Oct. 6.
In the process of selecting captains, James Ziegler, Academic Super Bowl co-sponsor and social studies teacher, said that they will look for outgoing candidates with good leadership, solid communication skills and possibly prior experience as a club officer.
Ziegler said, “[We want] someone who is friendly, is welcoming, is going to make the other team members, you know, excited to be part of the team and want to come to our events.”
Alyssa Smith, applicant for the position of English captain and sophomore, said that many captain positions have opened up for this upcoming season.
Smith said, “Pretty much all of the captains last year were seniors and graduated, so since we [are sophomores] who were on the team last year, we wanted to be captains this year.”
Practices for Academic Super Bowl will begin once the captains have been decided and have had a chance to communicate with the members of the team.
