Carmel Choirs’ competitive, all-girls choir Accents will be visiting Butler University for a workshop-type event for advanced choirs. The visiting choirs will watch performances by Butler choral ensembles and participate in a combined performance themselves.
According to choir director Katherine Kouns, “[The visiting treble choirs] will sing and then the Butler choral faculty will come and clinic them, give them some pointers and tips and then the choirs from Butler will perform for them. At the end they then do a combined song with the other groups that are there.”
Julia Peng, co-president of Accents and senior, said, “It’s a really fun afternoon thing. It’s only a few hours and it’s noncompetitive and it’s just a great way to get involved with the community.”
All of the choirs are currently working hard to prepare for Holiday Spectacular. The show will be during the first week of December. The competitive choirs like Accents and Select Sound are simultaneously working on their competition pieces.
