James Ziegler, Academic Super Bowl sponsor and social studies teacher, reviews the agenda for the Oct. 26 meeting. Ziegler said the team plans to announce the individual subject team captains and divide into subject teams at the meeting.
The Academic Super Bowl team will conduct subject team captain interviews between Oct. 20 to Oct. 25. Any member interested in becoming a subject team captain should turn in their captain application to Room E212 by Oct. 19. Additionally, the team will host an in-person meeting after school in Room E212 on Oct. 26 to announce the captains and divide into subject teams.
According to James Ziegler, Academic Super Bowl sponsor and social studies teacher, any member can apply, regardless of their Academic Super Bowl experience level.
Ziegler said, “Sometimes it is nice to have a fresh perspective and I always tell students that they can become a captain even if they don’t have a lot of experience with Academic Super Bowl. We have students who applied to be captains their first year with Academic Super Bowl in the past that went on to be really successful leaders.”
Ayaan Abbasi, Academic Super Bowl member and junior, said he is applying to be the fine arts subject team captain.
Abbasi said via email, “Over the past two years, I’ve learned a lot about leadership from our previous captains and would love to pass some of what they’ve taught me on.”
