After having not met since before winter break Twilight Club may end. The possibility of an end to the club was confirmed by president and senior Jamelynn Callahan. “It may shut down; I haven’t really taken on full responsibility like I should,” she said.
According to Callahan, the main problem facing the club is schedule conflicts. “I have a job, I’m extraordinarily busy, everyone’s schedules are conflicting.” She said, “It’s just been conflict after conflict.”
Club sponsor Wendy Gerardot said she felt the club had just run its course, “(It’s) Jaymo’s last semester, and she’s kind of busy in her final semester of her senior year, and (Twilight Club has) just run its course.”
On her feelings if the club did come to an end, Callahan said, “I’d be upset, I’d kind of see it as a personal failure, but at the same time it’s my own fault, I didn’t work with it very well and I didn’t plan very well.” She said she would feel personally responsible, “Because I didn’t plan it well, as the president of a club you’re supposed to plan well and you’re supposed to be organized, and I’m really not that organized and I really don’t plan that well, so I guess I should have thought of that before I started the club.”
Gerardot said there is nothing out of the ordinary with the possible end of club, “That’s kind of how clubs go here, there’s a group that’s wants a club and they kind of do it for while they’re here and it’s kind of what they do and when they move on, someone else comes along and starts something different.”
Overall, Gerardot said she was a satisfied with what the club had achieved. “I think it served its purpose, they enjoyed their time together. It was all about just getting together and enjoying talking about the book, and a kind of shared passion for it. I think it was good,” she said. By Maxime Berclaz <[email protected]>
