Next PTO meeting will take place on Jan. 3 at 9 a.m. in the community room. According to PTO president Amy Kline, the PTO is currently in search for new board members for the next school year. Other than finals there is not much going on until after winter break.

“We’re going to take a little break right now and then we’re going to start getting ready for our Academic Dinner,” Kline said.

Over finals week, the PTO, according to Kline, will offer to volunteer their service for any teacher in need of help. This is especially true for the special needs students who are yet deciding to take their finals.

According to Kline, the Academic Top Scholar Dinner for top students will take place during the beginning of April, and the PTO will start making preparations after break. Other than that, the PTO is currently discussing about how they will recruit new members for the board. According to Kline, the PTO will start asking incoming freshman parents from local middle schools if they’re interested in joining the PTO. This will happen after winter break and will be advertised through an article published in the PTO newsletter.

Kline said the PTO will also be making early preparations for the Japanese Exchange program happening in July as 15 to 20 students from CHS will be transferred to a sister school in Japan. After winter break, the PTO will be determining the gifts that the CHS students ought to bring for the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in Japan. Some parents, according to Kline, will be coming here to CHS as well. She said for every odd year, CHS students visit their sister school, and CHS will receive parents from Japan; the opposite is true for even years.

In the Dec. 6 PTO meeting, Principal John Williams discussed leadership, team values and how proud he feels for the programs in CHS. He said that everyone is a unique celebration and that it all comes back to hard work. Kline said they will talk more of the band, Holiday Spectacular and the football team later on.

Kyle Caress, Ambassador and sophomore, said, “I’m proud of Holiday Spec because we put a lot of work into it and it’s nice to see the outcome. I feel that it is a team effort that made us successful.”
