The next PTO meeting is scheduled on Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. in the community room. PTO president Amy Kline said, via phone, there won’t be much going on until the next meeting.

The PTO is still looking for new board members for the next school year. They will visit the Carmel Clay middle schools and give a presentation to see if any incoming freshman parents are interested in serving the PTO board. The date is not yet specified, but Kline said the board list will be ready by March.

“We try to get representatives from each middle school so that we don’t have a whole board made out of people from only Clay or Carmel,” Kline said.

According to Kline, PTO volunteers are currently helping the foreign language departments with tests. She also mentions that the PTO is currently working on to prepare for this year’s Gradfest.

“Although it is far away, we are still trying to work on raising donations, collecting money and prizes for the Gradfest event. And that gets harder and harder each year,” she said.

In April they will have a Scholastic banquet. Top students from each class will receive recognition. Kline reports that the PTO is working with the counselors to get the list together.

Sophomore Jeffrey Chen, who takes Chinese, said “I appreciate the volunteers helping our world language teachers. It just makes everything more easier for them.”
