On April 25, two fires, one in West Carmel and one in East Carmel, broke out. The fire in East Carmel took place in a neighborhood poolhouse on the corner of Cherry Creek Boulevard and Hazel Dell Parkway.
“It only took 16 minutes for the first units to contain the flames to the attic. ” said David Haboush, Assistant Chief of Administration at the Carmel Fire Department. “However, because there was another fire on the onther side of Carmel, we had to have mutual aid from Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, and Indianapolis (Fire) Departments to come help completely put it out. ”
Haboush also said that the probable cause of the fire is that the building was struck by lightning, however, the official cause is still under investigation.
