All CHTV classes are working on submissions for the March 4 Indiana Association School Broadcasters (IASB) contest, in which students enter their work to compete in different broadcasting categories. Advanced telecommunication students are also preparing for the performing arts showcase taking place on Feb. 26 between 5 and 8 p.m. in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium, according to the CHTV supervisor Erin Earnest.

Earnest said, “The performing arts showcase will introduce performances of choirs at the elementary and middle school and orchestra and bands. The telethon requires a full crew. There are a lot of schedules to be made and scripts to be altered. The IASB contest, which is later, is annual, and awards are given at the end of the conference.”

Cam Glass, advanced telecommunications student and senior, said in class, he is currently directing a video project for the IASB competition.

Glass said, “The video project is going to be 2 minutes and 30 seconds long. It’s going to be about a homeless guy, and a guy gives him money. The homeless guy gets his life on track, and at the end he holds a ‘thank you’ sign instead of the ‘give me money’ sign. Then the donating guy walks by and nods to him. It’s very touching. I think this competition is really good. It gives us a chance to show off our creative capabilities if you will.”
