A Super Bowl of Chili

A+Super+Bowl+of+Chili

IMG_2493

It’s that time of the year again, Super Bowl season! What better is there to make for tailgating than a heaping bowl of chili? Anyone can buy a 50 cent can at the store, but do you honestly want 50 percent of your daily worth of sodium in one sitting? Chili is not only super easy to make at home, but it tastes so much better than a can of preservatives. And no worries, this chili recipe is delicious on non-Super Bowl nights as well.

Total Cooking Time: 1 hr. 45 min.

Serving Size: Two bowls

Ingredients:

½ onion, diced

½ pound of ground meat, minced

1 can of beans

1 can of crushed tomatoes

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 cup chicken stock

1 tbsp. unsalted butter

1 tbsp. cumin

1 tbsp. chili powder

½ tbsp. oregano

1½ tbsp. salt

1 tbsp. pepper

Directions:

1. In a large pot, melt the butter and sauté the onions and garlic together until translucent.

5. Now, cover the mixture and turn the stove to low and cook for one more hour.

6. After an hour, your chili will be ready to serve. Grate a little cheese over it and top with a dollop of sour cream. Serve with a side of crackers and be prepared to enjoy a hearty tailgating meal!

When I added the meat to the beans, the stuff changed green. Is this an issue?
