The Icehounds gold team lost 2-1 in double overtime against the Leo Lions high school team from Fort Wayne on March 8 for the 4A Indiana State High School Hockey Association (ISHSHA) State championship. The blue team, however, beat the Summitt City Panthers from Fort Wayne 3-2 in overtime for the 1A ISHSHA State championship on the same day.

About Lio, Logan Gentile, right wing and defenseman for the Icehounds gold team and junior, said that they are a balanced team.

He said, “Their size is good and they’re quick.”

The gold team finished 34-14-1 for the season.

Michael Bozoian, head coach of the Carmel Icehounds gold team, said via email, “Having (the opportunity to play for championships) is always fun.”

According to Gentile, training for the 2014-2015 season will likely start September.
