The Swing Club has finalized the date and location of their club dance to May 1 in the community room. They will soon discuss the what time the dance will occur.

Member and junior Royce McConnell said they are excited to begin planning their club dance. The Swing Club had a Mardi-Gras-themed dance last year.

McConnell said, “The dance is coming up and we’re still planning it. We’re not sure what the theme is quite yet, but it’s under discussion.”

Sponsor Caren Rickett is in charge of getting the room available and helping the club with whatever assistance they might need.

“I just help them organize what they are going to do for the dance. I leave everything basically for them to do. I’m just the sponsor,” Rickett said.

McConnell also said that they are starting to try new steps that they looked up online. They’ve also been going to Fountain Square to swing dance with other groups.

“We are working on aerials a little bit, and tomorrow we are going downtown to Fountain Square. We haven’t been there a lot this semester, but we went about three or four times this semester,” he said. “We found a new move that is basically a back flip, but it’s over another person so we’re going to try to get that.”
