The Swing Club has moved the date of the dance to May 8. It will still take place in the community room at 6:00 p.m., and they still plan to go to Fountain Square afterwards.

According to member and sophomore Isabella Campins, club members were confused with plans for the dance.

“No one in the club knew what was happening with plans with the dance. Nobody planned anything, so they decided it would be good to change the date,” Campins said.

President and senior Shea Rhoutsong said she made the final decision to change the date of the dance.

She said, “There was a schedule conflict for Friday, so I decided to move it to next week.”

Sponsor Caren Rickett said the change was the students’ decision. Rickett does not participate in the planning of Swing Club events, but she helped to get the community room.

Rickett said, “The students felt they needed more time, so they decided to move the dance.”

Campins is fine with the change because she said she understands and feels that no matter what, they will still have fun in the club.

Campins said, “We’re all just a big family, or at least that’s how I see it. We have new members join at least every day, and they’re welcome right in. I started half way through the year, and I was welcomed. I feel like a part of a big group and it’s nice.”
