According to Chess Club sponsor Margaret Winans, Chess Club will have a meeting after school on Sept. 7 in Room F103. This will be the club’s third meeting.
The club has a few goals for the new upcoming school year. “Chess club had a fantastic year last year by winning the fourth consecutive State Championship,” Sam Philleo, club co-president and junior, said. He said this year’s goals are similar to the last, but they also plan on creating T-shirts.
Philleo said Chess Club is welcoming any new members to join, even those who do not know how to play chess.
“The common misconception is that Chess Club is only for chess prodigies,” Philleo said. “(But) the club accepts players of all skill levels.”
