Accents will perform at the fall concert on Oct. 1 in the auditorium. According to Katherine Kouns, Director of Choirs, the Fall Concert serves as an introductory concert that includes every choir in the program. Kouns said that Accents have prepared three pieces they will perform as an individual group and a concluding arrangement, “Sing Out,” with all of the choirs.
“One of (the songs) is about women taking power,” said Julia Sweet, vice president of Accents. The other one is about suicide prevention. Both of them are pretty weighty topics, but it’s interesting to think about the impact it could have on the audience.”
“(The Accents) are super excited. They love to take the stage and just really show off how hard they worked, not in any egotistical way, but to share their music,” Kouns said.
Members are also trying on costumes in preparation for the performance. Musicality is their current main focus according to Sweet since it makes all the songs reach their full potential for the performance.
“It’s always really connecting to be on stage together,” Sweet said. “I think (Accents) get really excited when a concert is coming up because it just means that we get to share what we’ve been working on.”
