On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Chinese Mooncake Festival is set to take place. This event, organized by the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL), will take place in Midtown Plaza.

Dawn Boarman, organizer of the event and member of CCPL, is enthusiastic about the event.

“This event will be free to attend, for everyone to attend,” Boarman said. “The festival will offer complimentary food, as well as food for purchase. We plan to have free mooncakes, as well as food trucks from which people may purchase cultural Chinese food.”

Sophomore Jewel Wang expresses her excitement for the event.

“I am so happy that Carmel is celebrating Chinese culture,” Wang said. “I can’t wait to go.”

“Typically, at home, my grandma and I like to make dumplings together, and we celebrate this festival at home with family and friends,” Wang said. “My family is looking forward to this event, and we can celebrate it in a new way.”

The Chinese Mooncake Festival is set to have activities set to take place, as well as performances.

“There will be a Dragon Parade, music and dancing,” Boarman said. “There is also a CCPL station to make bunny lanterns. If you don’t want to make the lanterns there, you could also take a kit or two home.”

“This isn’t just the work of CCPL,” Boarman said. “This event is sponsored by Allied Solutions.”

Boarman says that the event is also open to those who can’t hear.

“We will have ASL interpretive services to be as accommodating as possible,” Boarman said. By Pahal Sehgal
