The members of the Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will spend the last few weeks of the semester deciding what events they will compete in for the State Conference next March. According to FCCLA co-adviser Faith Dalton, deciding events at the end of first semester will allow FCCLA members to work on and polish their projects over winter break and the first half of second semester.
Sanjana Jain, FCCLA president and senior, said, “Since there are over 40 different events we want every kid to have an understanding of all of them so they can choose something that fits them. The officers have all went to State last year so we all are explaining what we did that led us to success and something we could’ve done better.”
According to Dalton, the club also plans to host team building events. Dalton said that the FCCLA is leaning towards having these events some time in December, but the date is still undecided.
“We’re spending time doing activities together where it’s more just fun,” Dalton said. “We’re going to have a baking competition one evening after school where the kids are just going to get together, we’ll bake, and then probably watch a holiday movie instead of just doing business all the time.”
