Interview with Freshman Vicenza Russo
1) How and when did you begin singing?
I started singing when I was little. I love it. Just recently, around two and half years ago, I started playing the guitar since I grew up with my brothers playing the guitar. And they inspired me, so I taught myself how to do everything.
2) Do you write your own songs?
I mostly perform covers but I do have a couple originals. I will be playing one at Houndstock.
3) Where do you find inspiration for the songs you write?
I really like acoustic music. Whenever I find a song that I really like, I want to learn it.
4) What is your most memorable performing experience from the past?
Last year I played at the Creekside (Middle School) Talent Show. That was my first performance in front of an audience, and I was really confident. When I got on stage, I felt my music. And after I was done, everyone cheered for me. It’s just a great feeling.
5) What will set you apart from the other performers?
I love music so much, and I play through my heart. I feel my music when I play.
6) What are you looking forward to for your first performance at Houndstock?
I’ve heard that it’s really hard to get in if you’re a freshman, and the fact that I got in second to last, I’m just really excited. I hope people will be there to listen to me and enjoy my performance.
7) What kinds of music will you perform at Houndstock?
Mostly acoustic music.
8) What are your future plans with singing?
Music is my life and I really hope to follow through with this. I want it to be my job.
