As the middle of the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year approaches, Superintendent Tom Oestreich said he is proud to celebrate all of the student accomplishments this year.

“I just wanted to start and share how excited I am about all of our students here at CHS. Mock Trial and its success, Robotics is gearing up, we’ve had 23 US Presidential Scholars and we have 48 National Merit Finalists, so spring is the season of growth and recognition,” Oestreich said. “We’re seeing a lot of student growth and students earning accolades, as (the) Superintendent I can’t tell you how proud I am of our students, teachers, administrators, and the work that is going on at Carmel High School.”

Nina Godbole, National Merit Finalist and senior, said she is grateful for the support teachers and administrators have shown her throughout her time in high school.

“I feel like I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of great things mostly because of the support I’ve received from the staff at CHS,” Godbole said. “From teachers helping me in class when I have questions to club sponsors working with me to initiate events, the support I’ve received from CHS staff has been phenomenal and has helped me reach a lot of my goals.”

Oestreich said that engaging with the community has also been a top priority and administration is doing so by having conversations with various PTOs.

“From a district perspective, we’re continuing to engage with the community. I just presented to the rotary and it was kind of a ‘State of the District.’(We talked about) where we are and envisioned where we are going in the future and what we’re working on. I’m also going around to our PTOs and letting them know about academic priorities, enrollment, and how parents can help students at all levels,” Oestreich said. “I’m proud of the school board (as well), they are also engaging with the community. They just had their first coffee connection that took place at Prairie Trace Elementary School, they have another one in April at West Clay Elementary School, and on May 9 they will be at a coffee shop in Carmel, so students, families and community members can come in and engage with the school board as well.” By Mahitha Konjeti
