The Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation (CCPR) is planning Arbor Day occurring April 26 and 28. Also, there are new events being offered this month including Silver Clay Jewelry on March 22 where students can make jewelry out of 99% reclaimed silver. According to Lindsay Labas, marketing manger for the CCPR, all these events are great ways for students to volunteer and participate.
“Students are more than welcome to participate in any of our Tweens & Teens programs that we offer at the Monon Community Center,” she said.
As far as Arbor Day, this event is a way for participants to learn how to plant trees and also, care for these trees. According to Labas, this event helps promote a green-friendly environment and anyone who wishes to become involved can either form a group to participate or email [email protected] to volunteer.
In regards to the CCPR, Labas claims that there are many positives that can come from volunteering.
“Some positive aspects that come from volunteering is the good feeling of helping others in your community, the opportunity to mentor those younger than you, and the ability to make a positive impact with a company within the community,” Labas said. By Audrey Bailey
