The first Aperture Club meeting will occur sometime before the end of September. Conner Gordon, Aperture Club president and senior, said he hopes to get more members involved in the club this year. Gordon said the focus of the club is for entry-level photographers, but photographers of all skill levels are welcome to attend.
“This club’s goal is to create a unifying experience for photography at Carmel,” Gordon said.
At a standard meeting, each club member submits one of his or her photos with a theme for that month. After all the members share their photos, Gordon and senior Anna Sands critique the photos and choose a winner. Gordon said he likes critiquing and finds it a very helpful process. He said he plans on having more contests in addition to advertising more in order to get students to join.
Aperture Club sponsor Jim Streisel said, “I try to let the students run the show because (I know) students listen to other students.”
