CHTV adjusting to new routine while covering school events

As the first quarter comes to an end, CHTV and telecommunications classes are starting to get into a routine of operations, while they cover school events, according to Erin Thorpe, adviser for CHTV.

CHTV staff members are currently working on aspects of video announcements, such as the video sequences that come before and after the announcements.

The telecommunications classes recently finished making 30-second promotional videos for CHTV. They will soon start working on a one-minute project called “A Day in the Life of…” where each students will film an interesting person in the community go through his daily life.

Sydney Miller, sophomore and telecommunications student, said she looks forward to going to class because she loves the people and the teacher.

“(Thorpe) gives us a lot of opportunities to be creative,” Miller said.

CHTV also covers all major events at CHS, such as the football game against Warren Central High School at the Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 30.

“So far this was the most exciting event to cover. We got to announce at a professional venue and got to go up into a press box that had other major news groups in it,” Thorpe said.

The redevelopment of the CHTV studio also continues, as students in Jill Birk’s interior design class, who are working with CHTV to redesign the studio, have presented their ideas. According to Thorp, the staff will take aspects from all four presented designs, and once enough money is raised, they will purchase the material and install the new designs.

According to Thorpe, while she and her students have to put in many extra hours of work to make CHTV run the way it does, the stress is well worth the fun and the outcome.
