The Astronomy Club will host its next meeting on Nov. 16. In addition, the club will take a field trip to the Sheridan airport to stargaze using telescopes on the night of Nov. 19.
According to sponsor Keith Turner, the Astronomy Club plans to host more telescope viewing nights in accordance with this year’s goal to do more observing using telescopes.
Members of the club will also help run monthly planetarium shows created by Turner. Club members help with tickets, control the star machine and help the show run smoothly in general, according to president and sophomore Yanying Chen.
The largest audience for these shows is children from elementary and middle schools. “Sometimes we have shows for an older audience, but most of those shows run during the spring,” Chen said via email.
The next planetarium show will be its holiday show, called “Season of Lights,” on Dec. 10.
