Film Club to watch “The King’s Speech” at Dec. 8 meeting

Film Club members will meet on Dec. 8 in Room E150 to watch “The King’s Speech.” The movie will run from 3:15 to 5:10 p.m. According to sponsor Robyn Huss, students will need permission slips because the movie is rated R. “The King’s Speech” was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Actor in 2011 and features a stuttering king, played by actor Colin Firth, who seeks help from a speech therapist during World War II.

At the end of each movie, there is a short trivia quiz. According to member and junior Alexis Albrecht, each quiz has about ten questions.

“The questions are based on actors and detailed parts of the movie, so you really have to pay attention,” she said. There is a running tally of point totals based on the quizzes.

“(Film Club) is really fun actually. No one really judges other people on what they like,” Albrecht said.

According to Huss, there will be a second call-out meeting on Jan. 12 in Room E150.

“Students are welcome to join any time. They don’t have to wait for the second call-out meeting if they want to join or if they have a movie they want to see,” Huss said.
