Young Life Club has resumed its weekly meetings for this semester. Young Life Campaigners will have meetings every Tuesday night. Young Life’s second component, Young Life Club, will have meetings every Monday night. In addition, forms to become a Wyld Life Leader are now available on the Carmel Young Life home page. Wyld Life is the middle school branch of Young Life. According to head sponsor Jake Van Asten, student volunteers are a crucial part of Young Life’s success.

“We don’t really have what I like to call ‘members’ because there is zero commitment,” Van Asten said. “I would say most ‘recruitment’ comes simply from students who go to Young Life and invite their friends. However, there are also volunteer leaders who know students and invite them as well.”

Cody Guzman, Young Life member and junior, says he began coming to Young Life at the request of his friend, but the involvement and enthusiasm of the leaders was a key factor that kept him coming back. Even during Young Life’s recession over winter break, Guzman says that leaders, such as Van Asten, scheduled multiple activities for Young Life members to participate in.
“We’ll just go do random stuff,” Guzman said. “Everything from lunch to pick-up football games. Sometimes it’d be just Jake and I or others. It’ll be a whole group.”
