The Academic Decathlon team is preparing for the national competition on April 4 and 27, according to club sponsor Wendy Gerardot. However, April 4 falls during spring break. The essay and art portion of the test is set to occur at that time.
Gerardot is trying to work something out with the competition’s coordinators so the team can still compete on the second date. As far as Gerardot knows, this is the furthest the team has made it in competition in the team’s history at Carmel.
“This is truly a road we’ve never gone down before,” she said. “It’s exciting.”
Pranith Lomada, scholastic member and junior, said he is preparing for competition as though it will happen. Lomada has reviewed some study material to prepare for Nationals.
“I just really hope everything works out,” Lomada said.
