The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club members discussed the mission of the club as well as their main goals for the year at their past meeting on Aug. 30.

“We plan on keeping with the plan to get the whole school behind us with different things, like last year we had the handbook and (raised awareness) for harassment based on sexual orientation,” said  Taylor Farmer, vice president and junior.

“(We want to) make it a more comfortable place for people who are needing somewhere to get their feelings off their chests and just making a comfortable environment for people to share stories and spreading awareness with the different things that happen in school, like violence,” said president and senior Morgan Davis.

The GSA is in the process of looking for more guest speakers that can inspire students with stories about how they got through the same problems that some of the students are facing.

“It’s kind of like a support system for people who are either questioning their sexuality or feeling bad for other people,” said Farmer. “(It’s) support for them so they can get through anything.”
