Aperture Club will have its first official meeting of the year on Sept. 18. in room C147 after school.
Jim Streisel, club sponsor and journalism teacher, said he will be present but not too directly involved in leading the club. “I really want it to be their club. It is run by the students” Streisel said.
Sam Patterson, club president and senior, said he has high hopes for the club this year but also wants to increase the number of members. “We want to support people creatively. We like to see that everyone knows how to operate a camera. We do not want someone with great artistic vision being held back because they do not know how to operate their camera,” Patterson said.
The club has monthly competitions as well as a Facebook page where members can upload their photos and be critiqued by others.
“For one it is a no pressure activity. You don’t have to be a photojournalist to be in the club,” Streisel said.
