This year, the Environmental Club and the Sustainable Living Club joined forces to create the CHS Green Team. According to president Katie Gao, the new club takes both of the main purposes of the old ones.
“The club really focuses on recycling, whether it be at the school or at sporting events. We also support the community garden and other activities outside of the school,” Gao said.
The new club is accompanied by a new sponsor, Kara House. According to House, it meets every Gold Wednesday after school and has about 30 active members. House said she has high hopes for the upcoming school year and the club’s potential to grow and do good for the environment.
“I tell my classes about the club and taken any opportunity to tell other students about it too,” House said. “It really comes down to the alumni club members reaching out to new kids to come out and support the Green Team.”
