The Academic Decathlon team has been searching for new members to give their team a full roster for the Regional competition in January. Aiden Kehoe, junior and scholastic member, heard about the team via friends and decided to join. “He’s exactly what we needed and is really high in his category,” club sponsor Wendy Gerardot said.

Kehoe said, “I had some friends in the club and thought it would be fun.” He said he has already started studying and is most looking forward to the Regional competition.

At the club’s most recent meeting, members discussed speech topics. Students may pick any topic. “Speeches were definitely what we struggled with most last year,” Gerardot said. Competitors will be interviewed after their speeches and will need to prepare a resume for the interviewers to reference in advance. Gerardot said she hopes preparing earlier will result in better-quality speeches.
