Young Life combines rave and meeting, coining the term “Clubble”

Young Life’s Nov. 5 club meeting took place at the scheduled 7:32 p.m. time, but with at last minute alteration to the location. Instead of the regular meeting spot at Legion’s building downtown, the meeting took place in the CHS Main Cafeteria, inside a giant inflatable bubble. In addition, a “rave activity” was added to the beginning and end of the club schedule, giving the meeting the title of “Clubble.”

Shana Porter, Young Life member and senior, attended the “Clubble” meeting.

“It was basically a rave, with neon lights and glowsticks, all inside a giant tarp that was inflated so it was like a bubble,” Porter said. “So we had a rave in a bubble.”

Although the glowsticks and lights were additions to the typical Young Life meeting, Porter said that all the main components of a regular meeting were covered.

“Raving was just added on to the beginning and end,” Porter said. “We had someone give a talk in the middle and we still had announcements and everything.”

One of these announcements included the upcoming Timber Wolf Lake ski trip. According to Jenna Perkins, Young Life Head Sponsor, the trip will take place over winter break, from Jan. 3 to 6.

“This is a great weekend trip with the family,” Perkins said (via e-mail). “We all stay at Timber Wolf Lake and everyone is welcome. Many families have said it is the best weekend of their entire year.”
