The cast of the 2013 CHS musical “Tarzan” has begun planning for the show, having done a cast meeting on Feb. 25.

“There’s so much buzz about this show, I can’t believe it,” said choir director Lamonte Kuskye. She said the cast and crew of the show are particularly excited about this year’s musical.

The rights to “Tarzan” were just recently released, so CHS will be one of the first schools to perform this widely recognizable show, according to Kuskye.

“It’s a cool thing to be a part of,” said  Megan Arrington, chorus member and junior.

Because of the high demand for tickets, the choir directors are planning on adding more performances than the students usually give of the musical. The extra performances may also help to pay for the performance itself, since there will be more expenses on costumes and props than usual.

“We have to create costumes because it’s a new show, we can’t rent it, you have to build everything,” Kuskye said.

Fortunately the choral and theatre departments have a large group of parents willing to get involved. The students and faculty involved are highly anticipating putting this show together and showing the community their work.

“It’s the creative process, getting a whole team of people on board and making it happen,” said Kuskye. “And the message, people and acceptance of those who are different. Two worlds, one family, as the song says.”
