Astronomy Club officers will meet during the first session of SRT on Feb. 6 at the CHS planetarium to discuss ideas for a field trip, according to sponsor Keith Turner. Turner said at the meeting, officers will discuss alternatives to going to Chicago for a field trip due to its high cost.
Turner said, “I feel disappointed about how expensive the Chicago is, but that’s reality. It costs money to do stuff like that.”

President and senior Yanying Chen said she said she feels fine with the alternative plans to the Chicago trip.
Chen said, “We are still seeing if people are willing to pay for the Chicago trip, but it’s not that big of a deal if we don’t go to Chicago because we have other plans. Going to the Children’s museum and the Lincoln observatory at night would still be cool.”
Turner said that visiting the planetarium at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the Lincoln Observatory are the main alternative plans he has in mind for the club.
Turner said, “ It would be awesome if we go to go to the Lincoln Observatory because its free, but its weather dependent. If its cloudy or stormy, we won’t be able to go.”
