TechHOUNDS, this school’s robotics team, met on Oct. 2 to introduce new resources and train members how to use new tools. TechHOUNDS mentor John Coghlan said the size of the team is similar to last year’s. According to TechHOUNDS member and junior Kalen Rudd, some robotics divisions split so members can be trained more easily.

The newest resource for TechHOUNDS members is Chief Delphi, a new online blog. Coghlan said, “Chief Delphi is a blog where people can talk about the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition.

At the most recent meeting, veteran members taught new members how to drill, use a disc sander and cut with a band saw. Rudd said, “We tool trained and followed through the various lessons we had planned before.”
The TechHOUNDS team is larger than it was last year, so some groups have separated.  According to Rudd, “The robot operations division has split into two groups so they can make multiple practice robots in preparation of build season.” Build season begins in January.
