Chess Club is set to meet Nov. 17. Chess Club continuously welcomes new students to join the club. According to Sam Philleo club co-president and sophomore, there is no mandatory attendance but everyone is encouraged to come whenever possible
All new students are welcome regardless of chess experience to play recreationally and competitively against each other.
“Chess Club meets every Monday after school in Room F103,” sponsor Margaret Winans said. The club continues until 4 p.m. where late bus passes are provided or until 4:30 p.m.
“For the past three years, we’ve been the state champions, and that’s what we’re working for now. We train for state and practice to sharpen our minds,” Philleo said.
