Design for CHS will start the Hands-On Education program to help children attain more learning experiences. According to club sponsor Jan Mitchener, this project will promote a greater sense of enjoyable education for children.

“Instead of teaching these children through notes and lectures, Design for CHS is really kicking it up a notch by doing actual experiments together with the kids. It’s going to be fun and interesting for everyone,” Mitchener said. “As both a parent and teacher, it’s great to see children helping other fellow children in need. Design for CHS members simply take what they enjoy and use it to help others.”
The Hands-On Education program will start on Oct. 23 and will be a continuous event, happening on the fourth Friday of every month. From around 4 to 6 p.m. at the Edna Martin Christian Center, this program will provide more wholesome learning experiences to students in Indianapolis, particularly through hands-on activities and experiments.  Find further information about this project here. According to senior and club member Evin George, this program is geared toward helping children succeed both currently and in the future.
“From this program, I sincerely hope these kids will be inspired and interested at an early age so that they can succeed later in life,” George said. “These unfortunate children may not receive the best education out there, so I feel that it’s my duty to provide them with extra enrichment.”
