Design for CHS‘s new project “Agent Recycle,” to launch on Jan. 4, will aim to encourage more students to recycle in CHS.  According to club sponsor Jan Mitchener, Design for CHS continues to implement newer and more creative projects to help the community.

“You see so many programs that promote recycling but at this school, I don’t really see any of that. I think it’s really neat to see Design for CHS taking action in recycling because it’s just simply something that the society needs,” Mitchener said. “I know for a fact these kids will use creative methods in this project to make it both impactful and enjoyable, because they’ve been doing it all along for these past few years.”
“Agent Recycle” will last throughout the rest of the school year. Beginning on Nov. 9, Design for CHS members will construct large transparent boxes where students at lunch will be able to recycle plastic bottles and paper cartons. By recycling in these boxes, students will be voting in a poll as each box will represent an option to a survey question. For example, a possible survey question may be, “Who is better, Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck?” and students can recycle their materials into the respective boxes that correspond to their preferences.  The boxes can be found only in the main cafeteria and is available to every student throughout all the lunches.
According to senior Vikas Maturi, co-president of Design for CHS, the objective of this project is not only to solely promote recycling within CHS, but to also portray this project in an enjoyable and innovative way.
“This project is going to be so awesome because it’s going to be both beneficial and fun for students and the society,” Maturi said. “Design for CHS really strives to not only help out the community but we also want to make sure that our projects are creative so that it’s enjoyable and positive for everyone.”
