Mentor and senior Cameron Clark studies during SRT. He met his mentees a few weeks ago and said he is looking forward to building strong relationships with them.
The K-8 mentors will continue to meet with their students from the 11 Carmel elementary and middle schools, according to Robin Pletcher, AP Psychology and K-8 Mentoring teacher. Pletcher said it sometimes takes time for the mentees to get comfortable with the mentors.
“It varies from kid to kid. Some of (the mentors) are coming back saying that just right away the kids are just so excited and opening up and just acting like they are already comfortable with the mentor,” Pletcher said. “Others were saying the kids seemed really quiet and unsure like ‘who is this person?’ It might take a couple weeks for others.”
Mentor and senior Cameron Clark said it’s his first year as a mentor and he’s excited to mentor the students.
He said, “I’m looking forward to creating multiple relationships with my kids I get and hopefully carrying those on past this year.”
